About TRAMPS

TRAMPS is a social bicycle club operating in the Latrobe Valley area approximately 150km east of Melbourne in Victoria.

Our aim is to promote the sport of bicycle riding in a group atmosphere.

The Club holds rides every second Sunday. The rides vary in distance but are generally in the 50 to 80km range and vary in difficulty from easy for beginners to hard for the more experienced riders.

History

The club was formed in July 1994 and incorporated soon after.

Four women who had been riding regularly for 3 years, generally in training for the annual Great Victorian Bike Ride decided to advertise in the local paper for expressions of interest to form a bicycle club.

At the first meeting fifty people turned up and so TRAMPS was formed. The following year (1995) was Year of the Family and the club was able to obtain a grant to purchase a support trailer.

Ride Locations

TRAMPS rides are conducted mainly in the Latrobe Valley region of central Gippsland. We do have rides outside this area venturing into both east & south Gippsland.

In November each year the club holds a weekend ride to Walhalla while in March a weekend ride is held outside the normal area, in the past this has included riding in the Licola, Melbourne, Western Port Bay & Orbost regions.

Members of the club are also active with other ride organizations and participate in The Great Victorian Bike Ride & its equivalent in other states such as Tasmania, NSW, SA, QLD and WA.
